Now with it being summer it is hard to keep the temp in my tank down i use led lights so i was thinking about a fan but dont know what to get or do. I dont want a chiller they are too much and i only have a 29 gallon tank.
Any suggestion

I just bought an aqua cool fan, $25 on Amazon...other than that I run my window AC unit to keep the house cool.

iPettie Aquarium Cooling System Fan Chiller + AC Adapter has anyone used this item i found it on amazon looks like it would work

Are you talking about the zoo med aqua cool fan and if so how does it effect your water level do you lose alot of water

Ya that's the one..I don't have room for a clip on but it's the same idea. Ya you'll lose more water from evap but I don't care, I don't go through 5g a week as it is.

summer time, my tank is running at 81-83 daily.. went up to 84.5 couple days ago.. everything is happy as ever..

I keep my fish tanks cold with chiller, it lowers their metabolism. My coral tank is inside the garage running pretty warm all year round. but less wiggle room if things really heats up..

Lower temps also have higher oxygen saturation.

WOW.. I WOULD Never let my Tank get above 80 deg.. It runs 76 at night and up to 77 some Days if we have the doors open in the spring and fall. We keep our ac at about 75. I also have 3 m/h Lights.. The key is the sump is in the basement . I have a Chiller and heaters on the tank But the Chiller almost never runs. The heaters will if the temp gets super cold outside in middle of winter. But temp still about the same.

As long as you've got a well circulated tank, anything below 85 is really no big deal. Natural reefs experience such temperature variations all the time. My tank is routinely 81-83 from late-June through August.

Ok so I have a versa top and my tank is normally 76 and now it is 80.8 and I noticed some of the corals not opening sounds crazy yes but when I take a fan or put the ac on and tank lowers to 77 they open up and are fine they are Xenia and candy canes

Doesn't sound crazy at all, they're used to the lower temp a 4-5 degree temp change is a lot and they're not happy with the higher temps. If you pay attention to them they can and will let you know what they like.

Yup! That's what I ended up using in my canopy. Be advised though, I had to send 2 in a row back to the seller on Amazon until I finally got one that would actually power on. :mad2:Now that I have one that works, it works great and is super quiet.

In addition, I replaced the lid of my tank with that plastic light grid/egg crate/light diffuser thing. Both of these changes dropped my water temp by a solid 3 degrees.

The fan thing works. First thing I noticed is the water evaporates very quickly so make sure you have RODI water made on the side for top off.

Yep. $10 clip on fan works great! I now run open top and don't need my clip on fan anymore but that is what I use to do. I now have my AC on during the summer and with the open top my tank stays between 76-77.
