Tank move done...

DVM in training
Well, it took 3 days longer than expected to get everything setup... but the tank is finally up and running in my new apartment as of 3pm yesterday...

my digi cam is broken, but here are some pics from my cell phone... sorry for the quality..

i dont really like the aquascaping on the left side, but im thinking if i get a good sized piece of monti cap, or even a few different colors, to grow out to the right itll look awesome...

in short term news: i dropped one of the screws that holds the front on my Mag3 into a tub of sand and i havent found it yet, so my return is making this loud clicking noise for now... im drying the sand out on my porch so i can find it by sifting...

the sixth one is a pic of the plumbing but sideways... also i didnt glue it, they were pretty tough to push together (i cut myself a few times actually) and i figured the worst case scenario is that there is a slow drip that will go along the pvc until it lands in the sump anyway...

none... i can cap the back and adjust the airflow to quiet it down, but right now because im only pushing about 250 gph through a 1" bulkhead it doesnt gurgle much at all with the air hole open all the way (1" pvc angle)

do you have a small hole drilled in the cap? how do you adjust the airflow on it? I want to do something similar on my new setup.

Jeff, yes it does look great and the colors are improving daily. I think that the day or two it went without direct MH light (just indirect sunlight from a nearby window) it bumped its zooxanthellae resulting in the rich rose color i see now... also I havent fed it in about 5 days so its coming up on feeding time... i probably wont feed regularly for the life of the anemone but while it is still small and not perfectly round (mouth in the center of the oral disk) i am going to feed to speed its growth... thanks again for holding it for so long...

Tim, right now i have no cap... none at all... so its just open flowing and it isnt loud at all, especially compared to the HOB i had on my last tank... i think that is because of the relatively low flow im putting through the overflow (about 250 gph) vs. before when i was pushing 605 gph through a 1" bulkhead...

what i did was i swapped my return, a quiet one 3000, and my Urchin Pro skimmer pump, a mag 3, so now the quiet one is powering the skimmer and the mag is my return... i think that this will result in better skimming and cleaner water.

gluing PVC

gluing PVC

So, i assembled my drain plumbing and was so excited to cut the pieces with my dremel and check to make sure my plumbing design would work that i guess i never glued them...

after 3 days there is noticeable salt creep around almost all of the joints so i suppose this weekend ill need to pull it apart and glue it...

how long after gluing can i turn the return back on? circulation shouldnt be a problem because i have two tunze 6025's coming by friday and i can toss one of the heaters from the sump into the tank, i just dont want to leave the return off too long because most of my ~70lbs of liverock is in the sump... (see the pic from my tank move thread...) and i have no LS in the new setup...

on a side note though: today is the first time ive seen the tank since i took those pics... it looks... AMAZING for lack of a better word... i can only hope that i just get some growth on the corals i have to fill in some spaces... and if anyone wants to part with a fairly large piece of monticap ill take it for that left side of the tank... normally id buy a 1" frag and grow it out, but i really want to complete the look of the tank and think that ill need something a little more substantial for that left area...

Jeff, the BTA looks amazing, and my two CB clowns are hosting and feeding it like champions... thanks again... i dont think ill never stop thanking you....

thanks esc.nik3r ... any of you guys/gals are welcome, when i get back from italy, to come and check it out...

I think the focus of the tank from this point on will be growout... getting rics to split, shrooms to spread across the bottom of the tank... SPS to grow and branch out, LPS to grow more heads... and of course for that beautiful BTA (thanks jeff, lol) to take over that right side of the tank,,, the only new coral i will probably place will be a pretty monti cap... maybe a deep red... I may have to make a trip to fragstravaganza when i get back to drop like $50 on a 10" piece...
