Tank Move - Need Help... Pretty Please

Hi everybody,

Moriah and I recently signed a lease on a new house down off of Nolensville Road (by the zoo). We've known for a couple of months that we would have to move, but it finally looks like we know when and where.

As most of you know, I've torn down our 270 and we're planning on just storing it in our garage for a while until we get a really good idea what I'm doing/where we're going once I graduate.

Now we need some help moving it and I'm not above begging :)

There are two weekends we basically have to work with because of when our leases start/end. Those weekends are Nov. 29th and Dec. 6th (assuming Saturdays would generally be better).

We would prefer to move the tank on the 29th because we cannot technically move in and start living in our new house until after the first, so moving the tank on the 29th would allow us to finish up moving furniture and everything on the next weekend.

Of course, the 29th is just after Thanksgiving, which either means people will be travelling and unavailable :( or possibly quite ready for an excuse to get out of the house for a couple of hours

I'm figuring on getting the suction cups from the club and getting my cart back from Wayne, so the move itself should be pretty easy, but we still need about 8 people for the hard parts (hefting this thing off of the stand and onto the cart, getting the whole thing on the trailer, and then getting it back off of the cart and onto the stand.

We would really appreciate anyone that would be able to help and if you are willing to help, some indication of whether the 29th or the 6th would work for you. Just having an idea of how many people we can muster would help us figure out exactly when we would have enough people to do it.

Thanks guys!

I'd like to help and I think I am available on the 6th. The 29th will depend on the time of day/afternoon as we will be coming back from Memphis. Have you thought about Sunday the 30th? More folks may be in town.

Wish I could help but I am afraid I would only be in the way. Good luck with the move!! I see you are moving close to the crittter... That could be bad!

I can help on either day, so you can count me in. I'm afraid that
on the heavy lifting I won't be much help, but i can do other things
to help with equipment and the like. Even willing to help you get it
set up and running if you want. You don't have to go up stairs do you? I will talk to Rhett I'm sure he will help if he is available.

Chuck and James, sounds good. Any help we can get will make it that much easier to pull off.

I'm open to Sunday, but some people take their "day of rest" more seriously than others or really defend their Sunday's as family time. I figured the response would not be as good. The day/time doesn't matter a whole lot, just need a time that I can get a trailer and all these folks at our place. So, maybe Sunday would be good too.

It doesn't need to go up any stairs, just through a couple of doors. As far as setting it up, the only setting up I'll do is setting it on the stand in the garage. She's going to stay dry for a while. I'll have to be satisfied with my old frag tank a and a 24 JBJ nano. I'm still sure we could find a way to put you to work, but I mostly need the muscle...

That said, I know Rhett is an ex-body builder. He might not look like it, but in his day he could squat Refrigerator Perry

If we have 8 guys, they don't need to have as much in the way of muscles as if we have 6 :)

We were thinking we could order a few pizzas while we're on the way to the new place so we'll have some pizza, soda, and beer for after we move the tank (as a thank you for helping and to give everyone a chance to hang for a few... maybe even swap update will be in order by then).

I can help, as we've already discussed. :)

We actually may be here on Sat. or Sun. the 29th and 30th, but we're not sure yet. Depends on whether Julie works or not. The 6th should be wide open, though. :)

That sounds good, Maybe I could get Angela and me on one spot
and we would count as one. ( I have Disc problems) not trying to whimp out. What do you think of my idea?

Yes I hear voices in my head, but Its my wife! Not Chuck Norris.

Let me just put it this way, I think I'd rather you not come then have you come, try to do too much, and bust up your back on my behalf. I'm sure there are things that you can do, but I should be able to muster enough help for the heavy lifting.

brian, i could help...but i'll confirm with you closer to the date....im practically down the street from the critter too!

Brian, just let me know when. I will have someone on standby as Sat. is my MANDATORY STAY OVER DAY if first shift dosn't come to work! Just let me know how I can help. I have a trailer, some tie downs, a glass suction cup, and a truck. I live a little closer than Wayne and I could take it to work with me when I go in at night. Sunday after Thanksgiven would not be good for me as my brother is coming in from Kenya Sat night. Just let me know!

I am avaliable for the 6th, I like lifting heavy things! I STRONGLY urge those with back ailments to opt out. (I work at a surgery center that fuses peoples spines). It's nothing to mess with! A busted back hurts for life, it doesen't really ever go away!

Hmmmm I didnt even say anything and got drug into this. Laugh I did use to lift weights alot and now I pay the price for it with my back. But I will help and I can still lift BUT I have learned to use my knees more. What you get for being young and dumb and lifting weight the wrong way.

hey guy's

I am available either date, didn't see any mention of trailer? have one if needed. just let me know and I'll be there with or w/o trailer.

Mike & Susanne

I'm in the same boat with all the other ones with back problems. That's what happens when you fell off over 100ft bridge and landed on rocks..... I did move my tanks though with some help, but it hurt my back pretty good afterward..... Good luck with the move!!!

Well after talking to ( back savvy medical people) I guess I will not help with the move after all. And Rhett is back on days and is having to work weekends, Which I should not volunteer other people to do things anyway. My bad. But my intentions were only to help. So I guess I'll pass on this one, sorry.

You can tell your getting old when you dose Vodka, instead of drinking it.

just make it a 2-part.....
1 part for the tank + 1 part for you = WIN!!!!
