tank move

I'm going to transfer everything in my 75g to another tank, but I'm worried about disturbing the sand bed in the process. Should I just use new live sand, or try to rinse out as much as I can with salt water, then add some more pods?

I've moved a number of tanks now without issue. However, I have never tried to move a sand bed from one tank to another, and probably never would. How long has the tank been going? Sand tends to accumulate all sorts of unwanted junk. I would take advantage of the move and use it as an easy way to change out your sand. Just move a handful or two and you sold be golden.

BTW, I would not use "live sand" - dead sand works much better, do not have to worry about die-off and pollution. A handfull from an existing tank is all thats needed...

The sand in this tank has been in there about 2 yrs. If I seed new sand with a cupfull of my old sand will this be enough bacteria to keep everything stable?

You might be amazed. I have seeded dead sand with less than that and seen all sorts of worms, pods etc.. within a few weeks. Sand is a nutrient sink, there is nothing good about old sand IMO...
