Anybody in or around the Gilbert area available to help with a big tank move? We are shooting for Saturday the 28th. The move is short, less than a mile, but the tank looks heavy and it will take 4 guys. There is 2 of us and a truck so far. I will provide a great lunch afterwards for anyone able to assist. Thank you

I have to work that morning but could help in the afternoon. I know you would probably want to start early but I'll help if I can.

what size tank are you moving? After helping ademster with his 375 gallon I'm kinda scared to volunteer to help. I may be able to help if I don't have to work Saturday.

phxreefer and bugs any help would be very much appreciated, I know moving a tank is not fun, but this one shouldn't be too bad, its a 200 gallon, more awkward than heavy. I am also going to try to track down some suction cups to make the move even easier.

I am so excited to have a tank again and that joy is counter balanced by the dread of moving and plumbing it. Its like the a hawaiian vacation, the destination is amazing but the ride there is long and tedious.

Scott, I moved out here a few weeks ago, my wife took a job in Mesa and that made us Eastsiders but I would love to get a couple of frags once I get everything running. Plus Id love to get a look at your reef. How is everything doing? I miss the little cleaner wrasse

Ademster, that sucks, how did you guys end up moving it?

seems like there should be a service that moves and sets up tanks and all you have to do is call them and they just take care of it.

I bought a larger tank a few months back, I called a few places locally that advertised moving tanks, once they herd it was a larger tank, they wanted nothing to do with it. I think they are hoping someone will pay them to move a nano.

when I got rid of my 150 gallon...two dudes, skinny dudes, moved it with moving straps. it was really simple. I hired 3 guys from craigslist movers to help me. It took the four of us. Then these two little dude come with straps and move it. I wont lie though, they were struggling, but they did it.

Send me a PM with adress and I'll be there as soon as I get off work. ademster, sorry no one helped you, I would have if I read your post in time. Us nerds got to stick together bucause the rest of the world thinks we're crazy! Says the guy with a 40g, 125g and a 150g in the front room!!

Ademster had his move well thought out. He left the tank on the stand lifting it up to put rollers underneath so It was more of pushing it than anything. He did 90% of the work himself. I stood around for the most part & the information I learned from him was worth what little effort I put in. Being an acrylic tank it was half the weight of glass so not that bad especially pushing it v.s. lifting. Still at 375 gallons even empty with the weight of the sand it wasn't an easy task. By the way - I still think he is selling his tank at a great price - downsizing putting his family above his hobby.

If I don't have to work I should be able to help

I moved a glass 180 by myself for a friend recently and when I moved my 300 I hired guys to do it,only took 4 of us to get it on the stand

I bought some forearm forklift moving straps and that will help a lot, thanks for the idea AZ Reefer and DVU, as long as there are 4 of us we should be good to go.

Thank you very much to the guys that volunteered, i am pming you my address and cell#. If you are able to make it we will definitely appreciate the help.

Looks like I will be be going to Crown King for the weekend with my Jeep club, sorry!

Hope the move goes well!

No problem Have fun!

Tank status update. We have it torn down and drained and all the sand removed. Fish are swimming in a huge sump in my garage

We are shooting for noonish tomorrow for the move please if you are available we could use the hands. In addition to lunch and the good feeling that comes from helping i will owe you one.

Thank you guys for helping today it was great meeting you and dont hesitate to ask if there is anything i can ever do to return the favor.
