Tank moving question

My friend recently finished moving, the sale / purchase of the new home is complete. During the entire process, I have been keeping his 60g reef in my house. He is now ready to move his tank to the new place, can anyone recommend a LFS/company to do the move? It will be going from OC to Thousand Oask area.

I had the move planned with a local LFS, but the LFS will not be available until late July (personal reasons).

Oh boy. Just did this myself, and it's not much fun.

If you can't find an LFS to help you, go with a bunch of 5G buckets...

i just did my 60g when I moved to Hesperia.

A 35g Rubbermaid tub w/ wheels kept my rock and some encrusted corals wet. I saved about 35g. of tank water and made fresh when I set up.

Get the large zip-loc bags for fish/ corals.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback. We moved his tank from Huntington Beach, and it took about half day, was not too bad but I agree, was not too much fun  I also did the ziplock thing for the corals, works real well.

I wouldn't mind helping him move, although it is a few hundred miles round trip! But my friend got his company to pay for the relocation of this tank, so I need to find a company to invoice him.

Moving tanks is quite a bit of work. A long drive indeed, hope everything settles ok.
Let your friend know that theres a Ventura County club that he's more than welcome to join. We meet in Camarillo on the 1st Thursday of the month (coming up soon). For more details, have him visit http://www.masvc.com/. Theres quite a few of us in the area and he has the awesome Tats shop to visit. On a reefer perspective, an awesome move. :) Hope to see him there.

Thanks, I'll let him know of MASVC, glad to hear there quite a few ppl in the area. There is a slight chance I move to TO area in the near future too.

Excellent. I highly recommend your friend (and you, if you can) to come to the next meet. There are a couple good events coming up he may want to get in on. Info will be discussed during the meet.
If you havent already, when you visit him next, check out Tats Tropical Illusion. I'm sure your friend will let you know about it when he checks it out. :)

You can try and contact Dottie at Aquatic Village in ventura. (805) 650-1188. I know they do tank maintance but not sure about moves. She's been in the bussines a long time in this area so she may be able to point you in the right direction.

Oh and come on out to the meeting, some cool things happening soon. ;)
