Tank noise problem

I have duel over flows in the back of my 120 and all of a sudden one of them is so loud with the sound of water flowing into. I am going crazy trying to fix it. Any ideas????????? It has not always been this loud, I did a water change and shut the pump off and when I turned it back on it was so loud.

Do you have Durso overflows? If so, I would suspect that air got trapped in the overflow...take off the cap and then place it back on...check the hole in the cap to make sure it isn't clogged with salt creep.

Is it making a loud gargle?

i don't know what durso's are, but it is pvc and it turns down into the water, I will try taking the cap off

I not sure if it will work on yours, but on my overflows after i clean i get air pockets in the drain pipe. I just take my finger and swirl it around and it always clears it up. just a thought.

Durso should look something like this...

yup that is them, but I can't get the cap off it is on tight and I am worried that I will pull the whole unit out or break the bottom glass. I guess I will live with it for a while

Oh wait, that might be because there isn't "enough" air in the durso. Blow air into the top of the hole somehow... If this works but the durso sucks the water back down to #2 on the diagram above, then you might need to make the hole larger in the cap. Ideally on a durso, you would want the water level to be be just between #2 and #3 on the durso (diagram above).

Or, if you don't want to make the hoel larger. Make a hole near the larger hole, with a smaller drill bit.

Currently looks like:

o

but make it look like

.o

Or

: o

or

`o

or

: o :

or

: o ) <-just kidding on this one.

Until the water level is at the ideal mark. If for some reason, the water level starts to rise over the durso, you drilled it too large or it didn't need the hole. With the separate hole you can fill it wil silicone or whatever.
