tank over grown with sponge?

my 90 gallon tank has started to have some strange growth of what appears to be brown sponge. the material pulls/blows off of every thing with ease but has covered 90% of my rock work and substrate in the last few days.the "sponge" acts like a puff ball mushroom you find in you yard, when squeezed or dropped in the sink it has what appears to be dust coming out of it and fills my tank with what looks like dirt. all coral and fish seem fine. parameters are in check. any thoughts? i will post some pics when i get a chance.

yes, cyanobacteria. caused by nutrient issues. More waste being created by the inhabitants than is being assimilated or exported. All the standard methods of water quality improvement will help-- increase water changes, change the RO filters for topoffs, feed a little less, clean the protein skimmer, run carbon and/or GFO, check for dead snails, etc.

looks like cyano does it have air bubbles all around it or under it? everything what seapug said can help you battle it

just checked with my water supplier and found out they had some high tds readings when i last got water.my well water is so bad i have to buy my water.
