The swirly stuff is some sort of macro algae that sprouted up on a single rock, started looking like a half seashell size of my pinky and now is about 2.5" accross. Too cool to rip out.

The lion fish is reef safe as long as its small or everything else in the tank is big It will eat anything that fits in its mouth and in my experience so far, it has been very mellow towards the clowns. They even steal his food.
The only problem is that there is no such thing as "dwarf black foot lion fish", and this little guy can grow up to 12" long. If he survives that long.
Nah, this is a blackfoot lion fish and their lifespan in a tank is between 2 weeks - 3 months. Some fish are better left in the sea. It was misinformed impulse purchase and a mistake on my part but i'll make it the best stay possible for this guy while he lasts.
