Tank question

I have a 36"x18"x18" glass tank. It's made of 1/4" glass is that thick enough? I had originally bought it for a sump setup so it would have been only half full. But now I'm debating wether to turn it into a full tank. I also want to know if I can move the centre brace, and just have thick bracing on the ends, so I can put one halide over the centre. thanks

IMO you will have problems with the lamp providing enogh light to the outer portions of the tank (rule of thumb coverage approx 12" each side of bulb)
