tank raised and hosting?

is it harder to get a tank raised or a wild caught clown to host an anemone/torch/frogspawn coral. or does this not make a difference?

well its hard to say, some people have anemones but they aren't hosted by clowns at all

It really shouldn't make a difference. Being hosted is an instinct as opposed to a learned behavior.

it doesnt make a difference. Its all instinct. My two tank raised false percs hosted my carpet anemone within seconds of putting it in the tank after they had already established a host in the tank

does age come into affect or does that not matter as well? btw my clown is an A.ocellaris if that makes a difference

age shouldnt matter. If they have been hosting something else in your tank for a long period of time and you put an anemone in the tank it may take a little longer but they will most likely go to their natural host anemone fairly fast. my occelaris has been hosting a rock in my tank in the corner and they were both hosting my carpet anemone in a matter of seconds

I have 4 rod's clowns, less than 3/8 inch and hosted in RBTA within 2 days after i put them in. Natural instinct takes over

ok thanks. would a standard 10 gallon with a 20 inch 96 watt aqualight be good enough for a rbta to thrive?

In theory after enough generations of TR it could make a difference b/c the instinct to host would not under natural selection forces. I HIGHLY doubt that has happened in the short amount of time that has passed but it is theoretically plausible.
I think everyone should get TR clowns, they are heartier and are not taking anything off the reef.

its very difficult to keep water params stable enough for a nem in that small of a tank imo

do you think if i go and buy a smaller mate for my ocellaris clown it is more likly to host another coral other than an anemone?

oh and also my ocellaris is about 2 inches . will the black color on it darken as it gets older?

I found that the Ocellaris son't seem to care for the RTBA's, But some Tank raised perc's I have/seen can't resist.

if i buy a mate for my clown is it more likely to host something?do the false percs black lines darken up with age or if they are kind of light black will they stay that way?
