tank raised ocy

Hi, I have two tank raised ocy's in a 90 gallon tank. Will tank raised clowns host an anenome? They have been in the tank for about a year ( I never got around to buying anything else). If so what would I have the best chance of getting them to host?

Anemones host, clowns associate :), but for A. Ocellaris they will naturally host with Magnificas and Giganteas in the wild. Association is instinctial, so a natrual host will pretty much always work (never heard of it failing at least).

An easier nem to keep is a BTA, while they may not naturally associate with them in the wild they can still associate with them in the home tank. It is not always a guarantee but it is fairly common for them to take to BTA's, you may wait significantly longer though.

Best of luck and before any anemone make sure your tank is good and stable (6-12 months not just cycled). And do lots of research on keeping anemone.

They have the possibility to associate with all sorts of corals ranging from hairy toadstools to frogspawn/hammer/torch corals. And anything inbetween. It is ultimately up to the clown though and they may or may not take to any random coral or object as their host.

If you want a nem that is likely to host your clowns and not to hard to care for, the Bubble tip anemone (E. Quadricolor) is your best bet. It is one of the most common anemone in the hobby, pretty easy to obtain for a decent price, and while it does not host A. Ocellaris in the wild it is very common for it to host them in captivity, but the bond may take longer than a natural host.
