hey all, I have been looking around trying to find something to do a tank screen with, I looked at the BRS stuff and for me its just not going to work..I have to have something that will go around my overflow pipes and my return pipes..So I was in home depot today and found this stuff..Way more than I need!! but maybe there might be a few people on here that could use some also?? Any way does anyone see an issue with this stuff?

that would work just fine. did you grab the screen framing for it also?

also why wouldnt the BRS kit work for you? they have corner adapters to configure it how ever you want. the screen doesnt always have to be a rectangle or square everytime. you could easily use the corner adapters to configure the screen around the sections that you need to...

As far as BRS goes i haven't seen anything other than there kit which only comes with 4 corners and 4 framing pieces so I don't really want to buy 2 kits. I have not picked up the other yet..it is very sturdy stuff as it is..I am sure it will need something to help it stay flat..But other than that I don't think the stuff I am looking at really needs much framing

when you click on BRS screening kits. scroll down a lil bit and they have the accessories for the kits, you can get extra corners there..

you can get bird screen stuff in lawn garden area of HD. it is much thinner and easier to work with from what i can see in your pic. you can get regular outside corners but then trim them to work as inside corners too. i had to glue my inside corners to stay put but no problems for over a year.

that actually is bird screen its just real thick..they have several different kinds of bird screening and this was the best one I could see..

I'm fairly sure that BRS has a video on their web site that shows you how to navigate around overflows, return piping etc.. using their kit. The BRS screening in clear, the stuff your thinking of getting is black right? I would stick with the clear.

I used the BRS screen and bought the framing and corners at HD. Just made the mistake of getting the half inch instead of the quarter inch. Never thought a wrasse would jump through half inch. WRONG.

The only thing special about the kits at BRS is the screen itself. Clear ¼" netting is hard to find in hardware stores. Some Home Depots and other stores carry it, but it's hit and miss, mostly miss.

The framing and corners can be found at any big box or corner hardware store - BRS even says so on their site and practically encourage you to buy it locally, or at least they used to.

Thick screen with 1/2" openings is not a great choice. Fish can fit thru and a lot of light will be blocked. Even the BRS clear screen (1/4") has an effect on light. The effect is slight, but there is an effect.

I've also noticed a different look to the light with the screen. There seems to be less shimmer. I'm willing to forgo the problems just to make sure the fish stay in the tank!
