I currently have a 44 gallon corner tank that has 1 lone (GIGANTIC) Cichlid left in it. Once monstro passes I am working on convincing the Mrs to let me setup another tank ... but this time for a mantis (yes 44 gallons for 1 mantis).
I want this to be as low maint. as possible ...
I will be using crushed coral as a substrate with a few pieces of LR (not many), a skimmer - Super Skimmer 65 most likely, and a Fluval canister filter full of carbon. I am considering the addition of a Phosban Reactor as well.
How much flow should I put through this tank ... will the output of the Fluval and a MJ1200 (or 2) be enough?
A heater will be added to keep temps in the 78* range and water will be RO/DI and premix from the LFS (cheaper than doing it myself).
The stock hood has 2 flourescent strips that currently has a daylight and "actinic" bulb. This should be fine since I will not add coral correct?
Any other tips are appreciated ... good starter species (love peacocks)
