Hey guys

Haven't posted on here for a while.
Just curious as I am looking to upgrade my 4x2.5wx2h tank in the next 18months and am wanting your opinions in what size to go to cater for my fish long term.

I have
2 yellow
Sailfin
Sohal
Tomini
Kole
Tangs
Pair clowns
7 lyre tail anthias
Falco hawk
Bicolour benny
Pair bangai

Am wanting to add more fish but will wait till next tank

So for these guys what size would be best
I was think somewhere along the lines of 6-8foot long 3-4foot wide and 2-2.5foot tall

Thanks heaps guys
Ben

With a shoal a eight foot would be needed. Thats a very overstocked tank IMO

With that list long term you need to think 8ft and 650-800g. A oversized skimmer is highly recommended

If you're able to go to the max of your budget/space available of 8' x 4' x 2.5' and without too much rock work... then I would say that you could have this list without a problem unless your Sohal goes rogue... which wouldn't be much of a surprise to anyone if it did.

I would say that the 8' mark is a nonnegotiable minimum and you could easily get away with 2-3' front to back unless the Sailfin decides to throw its weight around... which wouldn't be much of a surprise as well... plus they just get so large.

Those two fish are the only ones, IMO/IME, that are the issue with the size of the tank and the ones that will make it difficult to add other fish in the future. If you are truly attached to them, then go as big as you can. If not, then find them good homes and stock your tank with fish that you enjoy and that don't have such limiting factors.

With all of that said, I love the look of a big Sohal and the adult Sailfins.

Wish you the best of luck!
Mike
