I have a 10 gallon tank with two 7 inch RBTAS. It will only house two akinydos clowns for about 4 months. Is this possible.

10 gallon tank
70 Gallon Rated Seaclone Skimmer
Aquclear Filter with carbon and cheato
150 Watt MH HQI 14K
Chiller

5 pounds of live rock and 1 inch of live sand.

the clowns are 2.5 inches and 1.5 they are juvis

This is just a holding facility for 4 months?

I would be most worried aboout the anemonies in such a small volume. Parameters can change very quickly, so you will have to test often and be proactive. If the anemones are healthy, it is probably possible.

With a halide hanging over such a small tank, overheating is a serious issue. You might even want to consider running it for only a few hours at a time with a break in between. I would simulate running the setup without livestock to check the temp. throughout the day.

WAter changes will be your best friend here. Nitrates and even ammonia will build quickly. I would recommend as many changes as you can do, but definitely at least weekly, and probably more.

Good luck if you go for it

I would be leary about trying to aclimate two large anemones in a tank this small. They sound large enough that the clowns will not harm them though, so the clowns should make the process easier. Seems pretty risky, but you could make it work for a few months with diligent care

The two RBTAS have been in the tank for 6 months as well. They have been eating and hosted by the nigripis....

THis is an established tank of 2 years.

jeeez...yes , it is possible , but not recommended. Just do more frequent water changes and check your parimeters religiously!

I am not underscoring your advice

I am not underscoring your advice

I am just simpy giving more details

Live Sand and Live Rock are 3 yrs old
This has been in 2 different tanks

a 5 gallon nano with 3 inches of sand
5 pounds of rock and for two years

a ten gallon with 1.5 inches of live sand and 7 pounds of live rock
for one year.

Green bubble tip has been in for two years and the RBTA was a 5 inch one that grew to 12 inches and split. that has been in for a year six months since the split.

All Running on that setup.

I will be selling the nigripis to a fellow reefer and selling the green bta as well. It will be just the two clowns and two RBTAs for about 4 months till i set up a 24 gallon tank for this pair.
