What are you guys keeping your tanks at during the summer? In the winter, my 120g was set to turn the heaters on at 77 until reaching 78. But now, in the summer, I don't cool my house as hard. So, my tank tends to start at a low of 78 and go up to 79-79.5 on occasions. Is that bad? Everything seems healthy and happy (fish and coral). Just trying to avoid turning my AC down a bit. I know I could increase evaporation and stir the surface more...

Yeah 76-82 are my limits but I control my temp with an Inkbird so it always stays 77-79 since I have it set to 78.

I am glad to see other inkbird users when i first posted years back about using them people were no no it will fail its not ronco controller.. psst ...
I started using the inkbird stuff for my drywall finishers with heaters and fans back then i used Humidity monitor as well as temp..

I have mine set to about 77 with my Inkbird. It turns my fan on to cool my tank. It's been working well. Just 0.5 Fahrenheit swing so that's pretty stable.

Yeah the Inkbird is great. I can't wait to see how it controls a chiller and heater together on my new tank. God this new tank is killing me. I'm months away from setting it up and I'm just dreaming of everything I'm going to do with it... :headwally:

Just a humble recommendation... use fans in addition to the chiller.
I have a chiller on my tank, but found that just adding two fans blowing across the water will almost keep up with cooling the tank. I went from the chiller running multiple times a day, to the chiller only kicking on once.
Electricity savings is noticeable.
I would run two temp controllers. One for the heater and chiller at the two extremes, then the second for the fan. Have the fan kick on .5-1 degree cooler than the chiller is set to. That way the chiller is used less.

78 to 79.5 is nothing and will not effect anything, IMO. It's a gradual 1 degree change. No harm.
I run my tank from a low of 76 to a high of 82 in the summer. Generally temperatures as high as 83 and even 84 are fine if you don't have a large fish population in the tank. Shooting for 82 as a maximum high temperature gives you a little cushion on the high end. As posted above, fans blowing across the tank's surface will make a big difference in keeping a tank cool. My tank never got higher than 82 degrees two summers ago when my wife accidentally turned off our AC while we were on vacation (I had set the AC at 82 degrees). When we got home the temperature inside our house was 92 degrees, the tank never got warmer than 82.0 (confirmed via my Apex log) with only fans running, I don't have a chiller on my system.
