Tank tracking software

After doing a few searches for some software that will allow me to track things that happen in my fish tank I have decided to try to make my own. Inputting things in Excell just is working for me any more. I like what Aquanotes does but I don't have a controller to communicate with it and I wasn't fond of the interface. So with the help of one of my coworkers we are putting together a simple little database. The plan is either to do it with Access or, my preference, using some PHP pages and MySQL; which is free. So I was wondering what sort of things you think would be useful to help you keep track of your tanks.

The plan is to have a searchable data base of species much like Aquanotes but allow you to attach your own pictures and custom information. Of course we will have an tank inhabitants database as well. There will be a section to input parameters like ph, sg, temp, orp, ca. pretty much whatever you want. And also graph it so you can see tank trends.

Mainly this is just something to mess around with and learn some coding. But any input would be helpful on adding features and things like that.

have you tried reefcon pro? i love it...does everything from water chemistry, to expenses, to daily notes about the tank, to logging information about specific animals in the tank, and it also graphs everything as well....pretty much anything you could ever want it to do.

hm I have not seen that one. I will download it and check it out. Can you use it free or do you have to buy after 30 days?

Still a web based feature would be neat and a great learning experience. Maybe it could be useful as a catalog on who owns what livestock? fun stuff
