Tank transfer fail?

Hi,

Tomorrow morning will be the last transfert. The purple tang have fare less spot but the hippo don't show any sign of cure.

I do the transfer at 6am on day 4,7,10...

Tank and equipement are cleaned and dryed.

I can't see any possibility of cross contamination between the tank.

Maybe I'm not lucky and the ich leave the fish after the transfer and re-infect the fish before the next transfer.

From what I understand the method work well as long as the ich leave the fish after three days?

What should I do?

Thanks for your advice

Can you post pics of both fish so we can determine whether or not you are actually dealing with Ich here? Trophonts on a fish for 10 straight days does not line up with the known life cycle of this parasite.

I will post picture soon

Its probably not same spot. I'm maybe in a second wave?

If you are seeing different spots in different places, then that would line up. You are probably dealing with a heavy infestation of parasites, and they are in all different stages of their respective life cycles. Could also explain why TT isn't working for you (at this point). But I'd be willing to bet if you just continue with TT; as the overall number of parasites continue to reduce, you will eventually win out.

The other possibility is you are dealing with Velvet, not Ich. TT does not work on Velvet. But I would think after 10 days, all your fish would be dead if it were Velvet. :hmm2:

Guess what after 8 transfers and 36w uv (since a week) hippo tang still have few dot and most fish breathing rapidly. I'm about to give up! I'm thinking about cupramine bit I have a spotted mandarin in the same qt

Thanks for your advice

By the way the qt is 40g breeder and the uv pump is a maxijet 1200

The fish have been treated with prazipro for 3x 3 days (3 transfer). White dots are fluke symptom?

Some pics of the fish with the white dots might help to clear this up. It's possible, for example, that you are seeing Lympho - very easily mistaken for Ich sometimes.

Those spots look pretty large to be crypto. Crypto usually looks like salt sprinkles - those look like small gumdrops!

+1 I don't believe that's Ich - but it's also not Lympho. In "photo 3" the dots almost look gold colored, which makes me think Velvet.

To the OP: Does it look like the dots are under the skin or on top of the skin? This is very important.

Sounds like you are cross contaminating when you do the transfer. There should never be more spots, just less. Are you netting the fish from one container to the next? If that's the case then that's where to cross contamination is coming from. I always use a glove and my hand to move fish when I can, it is far less stressful then using a net

No net for transfer I do it with plastic container and a glove. There is far less spot on the fish but still a few.

I try to deal with this problem for more than two month before the tt procedure I was doing hypo. From what I saw about velvet the fish should be all dead now.

The picture was taken before de tt

The purple did not make it I found it on a pump monday. I was not eating since last week and stay at the same spot breathing rapidly head down. I saw the other post linked and the spot on the purple was not stringy. The spot on the hippo are different

What do you think?
