Tank Transfer instructions

I had previously read the procedure on how to do Tank Transfer (TT) correctly based on the life cycle of ich.

Can someone point me to that note? or maybe we should make that a sticky for this forum? sorry unable to locate again...

Day 1 - fish in QT.
Day 4 - in AM, but before tank lights come on (8-9 AM EST), transfer fish to new tank, matching temp and salinity. Transfer as little water as possible.
Day 7 - repeat.
Day 10 - repeat.
Day 13 - repeat and done.

After transferring, I sterilized all PVC, heaters, filters/powerheads, thermometer, etc with a mild bleach colution. Rinse well. Let dry before next transfer.

Great post, I don't mean to hijack the thread, Is there a way to incorporate CP treatment with the tank transfer method?

Something like: CP treatment from day 1, Day 4 transfer tank with CP, day 7 complete...

I can't imagine that being a problem, but not experienced with CP enough. Should be similar to people treating PraziPro along with TT as the 3-day period meshes up nicely.

CP will help with parasites/diseases other than Ich, right?

yes, but TT only helps with Ich, not the other nasties. So there are advantages of copper. And regardless, especially since the other methods get rid of more nasties, you will want to keep the fish in QT after TT for 4 to 8 weeks to observe.

Well, I've already started treating with cupramine. Third day of treatment, and so far I've seen no improvements. The keyhole angel actually looked a lot worse!

Quite. It started with signs on my box fish, now this guys covered too. He was showing spots prior treatment as well. I have a seachem ammonia badge, and it's just an off white color, but when I test for ammonia and nitrite, they both appear way too high.

watch out for HLLE on the Angel's when running copper. after losing an angel to that is when i switched to TTM.

Similar happens with some fish, especially Tang's, when exposed to too much carbon dust (not rinsing it enough).

Copper + Angel's often results in the same, as I experienced.

Edit--> Do note that many/most people do not experience this and the Angel's make it through copper fine; just know that it is an increased risk is all I am saying.

That is because the tests actually test amines which is included in cupramine. That is the reason you need an ammonia badge. Once cupramine is in the water you cannot use a standard ammonia test kit. It will always tell you there is ammonia even if there is not.
