Tank transfer method question

Tomonts are supposed to attach to the substrate. How well are they really attached to such slick surfaces like glass and PVC pipe. During fish transfer it is unavoidable to not disturb these surfaces (at least with bigger active fish like tangs) and possibly knock off some tomonts with the risk of transferring some to the new tank even when avoiding water transfer with the fish.

I am just trying to understand this part, not criticizing the method.

Really, no response on this. Is this such a stupid question. I have read through all stickies and more on the subject and not found an answer.

Tomonts fall to the substrate, which if you are using tank transfer, will not exist. They do not attach to the walls of the tank, but even if they do, removing a fish with minimal water transfer will eliminate the risk.
