Just thought I'd post some pics of my 20 gallon tank. It has been runnin' now for 2 years.

I don't think I took any pics on 06. But, here's the latest shot. I made 2 small pillars out of base rock to put on each end to put my SPS on. I really like how it turned out. I'm really pleased with the new t-5 light. I'm waiting for the other 2 reflectors to come in (already added 2 and made a big difference). The larger clown is the same one I've always had from the beginning. I actually got her in Apr. 05. So, goin' on 2 years with her. The smaller one (male) got him from Fishboy a year ago. I need to do some scrapin' on the bottom of the front glass. Didn't feel like it and figured I'd take a pic anyways. One of my kenya trees has been closed up for awhile now. I don't know why? Somethin' must be irritating it...maybe the zoas?

very nice....I like it....

I didn't have the waiting power to stay in my 24 gallon. I went from 3 months of the nano to a 90 gallon. But I do like my 90....

Looks great Steve. Is that the purple cap from me on the right side? It is way more purple under your lights if so! I bet your clowns start breeding soon for you.

Yea, I was just messin' around with some small rocks and after stackin' em I thought they would go good to fill in the sides. So I got the aquamend out. Worked perfect. I really like how it turned out. I really wanna try some type of acro in the top right part. I'm savin' that spot cause its a bright spot. I'll probably just go with another monti digi since those seem to be doin' good. My green digi was turnin' brown under the PCs. But it's gettin that green color back under the t-5s. And my Kenya tree, I dont know whats up with it. One section is fine the other has ben closed up for a couple weeks now. Maybe those zoas are botherin it?

Angela, yea thats the purple cap I got from you, and the birdsnest in the top left, and the zoas in the bottom left. Cant see em really cause of the coraline. Im gonna do some scrapin' tomorrow.

I wasn't sure on the birdsnest, lots of folks have it but the cap does look real nice under the T5's. Is that a 20 tall or long? Looks tall to me from the pics.

Any chance it is the lighting? The T5s are intense and some corals who don't like high light will want to hide. Also, popping on the individual reflectors doubles the output, so it is possible it didn't have much time to acclimate to the new higher lighting. It's a thought, anyways...

Popping on the reflector shouldn't double the output. Maybe 1.5 times if your lucky. The only way for it to double to output to the tank is if the world outside your tank behave like a black body (anyone remember P. Chem). It may however, focus your output so that it is doubled at the focal point of the refelctor. Sorry to be so technical...

Crazy chemical people. It was Heat Transfer:D.

Well the main point is that it might have been light acclimation/shock that caused the kenya tree some anguish. The other point about doubling or not, I'm not sure if I concur. I can't find the thread with the par readings directly below the bulbs with a single reflector vs a parabolic reflector, but it was something like double the output. The bulb is offset toward the base of the parabola, and thus I think ~60% of the output from the bulb that would go outwards or upwards is reflected back down. Regardless, T5's alone, and then the bump of adding better reflectors will drastically change the light intensity vs PCs.

All that really means is with new (and brighter) lighting you may find that lower light corals need to move down, and that all the corals may need to be reacclimated (just like when you add new bulbs)...
