I have a 30 gallon tank....and i have tested and tried my patience with a 30 Gallon Fission Protein Skimmer. The notorious thing skims more water than gunk! I get more pure drinking water in my collection cup that from a RO unit... So its time i got a higher rated skimmer for my tank... I have two choices, i don't have a sump :( so i have to settle for a hang on skimmer. These are two skimmers i am planning to buy-:

Seaclone 100 G

Typhoon Skimmer

Which one do you think i should buy? I have heard of Seaclone but never heard of Typhoon before. So have any of had any experiences with these skimmers before?

Part II

I was planning on adding a refugium.... ( Hang - on) .... Do you think these model is any good?

Any good/bad experiences with a hang on refugium?

Thanks a lot for ya'll help in advance. ;)

I had a Sea clone on my 55 gallon and it worked ok for awhile then the tube thatgoes into the actual base of the skimmer broke by itelf and flooded my floor.
I have also heard of other problems with this model. The Typhoon has the upperhand now since I havent heard of anything bad about them yet.

Those fuges are great little things, but I have heard about the seams splitting on them and them leaking all over the floor as well. I dont recall if that was due to a poor assembly of units made or if it is a defect that they all have.
Other than that they are great if you dont have room for a fuge made from a tank, or the extra space under the tank.

I was going to suggest one but didnt since that wasnt an option.
Anyway, I have the 220 model on my 90 and couldnt ask for a better skimmer, it works great and would highly recommend one.
