"Tanked" Fish Selection

Let's put a ferris wheel in an aquarium. That'll be a tasteful addition. I didn't see the little diver with the air pump hooked up to him or the treasure chest that opens and closes with the air bubbles. They must be losing their "touch".

That show is so scripted and ridic. I have never been able to make it through an entire episode. Or even until the first commercial break.

It's kind of like Punk'd. If you spent $20K on an eyesore that is too big to remove and all the fish are dead. You got Tanked my man. They should do a show with the owners of the tanks a month later. They could call it "Pi$$ed".

Those tanks have to be ridiculously expensive, so they probably replace the fish for free on the profit margin.

Lol need to get a commercial for that show on the discovery channel.

Honestly, this is only about the tenth thread on this same tank.

It's a TV show by people that build tanks. It's intention is to entertain the masses, not to entertain the aquarium enthusiasts. How many of the tank owners on that show know a damn thing about what's in it? Look at Tank Kings, they have a biologist "fish geek" to look out for the animals safety and well being and the show is not entertaining.

Here is my opinion so take it or leave it. If the show bugs you that much, go pikket your "for profit" fish stores cause they have no problem selling fish to people who don't know what they are doing and will hand off more fish in a week that will die than Tanked will in a year.

It's a TV show. TV shows do stupid things to entertain people. You are not going to change things by yourself, go join PETA and see what they think of your reef tank in your living room.

How many fish need to get stuck on the ferris wheel before it starts eating into their profits? Heh.

That is kind of sad though if that is the case that they just replace the fish. It's like a $20K bouquet of flowers. When they wilt and die you just ask the florist for some replacements.

Go picket the fish store? LOL Or who said we were trying to change things? We are allowed to discuss something without joining PETA. That's my two cents worth.

No idea why you are commenting in the SWVA forum, but hey thanks for the reality check buddy :) Glad someone is taking up for the clowns on Tanked.

Just an FYI: I do boycott big box fish stores and try to only get fish that have a chance of surviving and are sustainably harvested.

You boycotting a store is for your benefit, not the benefit of the fish being sold. There is a difference between boycotting and picketing a business. And I am not defending any of the idiots (though I do feel bad for the clowns in the tanks) putting fish where they don't belong, I'm just tired of people complaining about it in 10 different threads.

And I post in your forum because the thread shows up in the "unread threads" search. Pretty sure I don't need your permission.

If I were to get online and complain about the stupid things people do on TV related to every hobby I love, i'd never get any sleep.

If the show bothers you, don't watch or better yet, make an effort to get them to change their practices (but be aware every step you take to dictate someone's actions infringes on their freedom). The truth is, people are going to do this stuff no matter if it's on TV or not. Complaining about it here is preaching to the choir. The best way to make a change is to write/call them and DONT WATCH THE SHOW. when you watch the show, they don't care if you are watching to see the stupid stuff, they just care that you watch.

An off topic example, CNN doesn't care if you watch Piers Morgan because you agree with him or because you wamt to know what ignorant banter comes out of his mouth, they just want you to watch because the more people that watch, the more $ they make.

I joined the hobby because of that show and so are a bunch of people. I know a company down here that works with them and they leave local companies to take care of the tanks and if there's any problems everything gets swapped. Even fish lol. They just show what's going to sell advertising. Fish tank kings location is local and I can't stand that show but when I met them they're really cool. They just show you on tv what producers think will sell. But all in all get a bunch of people to write that they're upset about the show and maybe they'll show more of the care that goes into it.
