One episode was my gag reflex limit. I've scanned others, because I don't want to be unfair in my comments, and I hoped there would be some mitigation or disclaimers, but I can only say that anybody who imitates what they *think* they see going on in this show is going to kill some beautiful animals.

Agreed. My first opinion about this show even before it was aired, was alot of people are going to think they can just set one up and through a bunch of junk in. I was hoping for a more educational show as opposed to drama/reality. The only real please I get out of it is "ooooo pretty fish" or "omg these guys areally some of the biggest guidos ive ever seen."

It really bothered me to see all these fake corals. Thats my favorite part about the hobby.

Honestly, they could probably head off a lot of criticism with slight variants of the "don't try this at home" disclaimer.

"The show focuses on setting up some awesome custom aquariums, but there's a lot of other little things that go into keeping a tank healthy and happy that we don't show on TV. If you're going to set up your own tank at home, find a local aquarium club or pick up a good book at the library to help make your journey a long and happy one for both you and your fish."

15 seconds before or after a commercial break, then back to the stuff with higher entertainment value.

Agreed. The people that want to do this kind of stuff are going to kill a lot of innocent animals.

I hope for the producers sake that this show TANKS once people realize they are being dishonest to the public about general aquarium knowledge

Watched one episode, scanned the rest. Won't watch anymore. One thing I noticed is that none of the aquarium industry companies support this show with sponsorship or ads. If you've watched, have they or did i miss any of them?

They aren't being dishonest, because quite honestly they aren't claiming (or trying) to put any general aquarium knowledge forward.

The problem is people who THINK the show is presenting that knowledge, and taking it as the truth.

And honestly if they are being dishonest to their customers, it because these customers are being told what they want to hear. If you really pay attention to their customer base, its high rolling, demanding, cash doesnt end kind of people. These kinds of customers will expect to get what they want no matter what. And telling them no isnt an option if you want the business. I am in no way defending their company, but from a business stand point, they are trying to make money. If they were told 'no you cant do that' that business would never have made it past one year.

Am I saying I would do that in their position? Hell no. I would put more responsibility into it. They arent just things. They are living creatures

I watched (an) episode of the show because I don't have time to watch Tv often. I thought it was entertaining. I felt like I was watching PawnStars. The fact is the producers focus on the tanks and the people buying the tanks more than what goes into the tank. This isnt that misleading considering the name of the show is "Tanked." Im sure that gearheads talk just the same about car/cycle shows as we do about this show. We're more into the hobby than the average channel flipper, so it's natural that we would critique it more.

Most non hobbyists and potential new hobbyists won't know the difference from proper care and what is shown in this show. That's the rub.

The dishonesty comes from the portrayal of how this company sets up an aquarium for their customers and touts it's self as "professional tank builders" without the "responsible" explanation, shown or explained, of what it really takes to properly set up and maintain a captive marine environment. (More than a 5 second blurp, which they've done.)

I think it would be a more interesting show if they kept on point and refrained from stupid antics like giving out fake winning lottery tickets.

Well the general population of america finds that as entertainment. Hence Jersey Shore....Im not even gonna go there

I think you guys are being hard are them. obviously they do good and make good tanks considering they are the number one tank builders in the world. They need to make money to stay a float they can't cycle every single tank that goes out the doors. That would take them forever just to get one paycheck. Im frankly jealous of their jobs. Im sure all of you are too. So stop hating on them.

Its not hating, son. Its about responsiblity. And with the kind of thinking of they cant cycle every tank, then a construction worker should think, I cant make every house level. A cook, I cant make even dinner cooked properly. A cable guy, I cant get everyones tv working properly.

Is that how you would like the world to work?

Secondly, I could care less about them or the company. Its about actual life. Its about these animal depend on us to house them properly, give them a suitable home. Why? Cause we put them there. The people that are their customers, I can guarantee you, they dont. They have money and it would be no big deal for those customers to just go..."Oh give me another one, if it dies, Ill get another"

And honestly, yes you could cycle every tank you set up. They just dont take the time, nor tell the customers that cause that is not something a customer will take when they want "now"

I thought the fake lotto ticket was great as well as the hot sauce bit. I laughed pretty hard...

+ ive never seen any skimmer ,lighting ,sump, accrylic ,LIVE ROCK, info ,marketing comercials nothin.......and a few people at work see it and had the ignorance to tell me all i do is for waste .Because on "TV" they doit with a hot water heater in a day .......huh.But it is what it is ,another OCC but i wish they were a little more informative . The tanks are smokin' though !2" acrylllic ...id love to have one $$$$$$$$$$$

Omg that is alot of fish in that little bit of space. Then down size is these people that are their customers say 'I want this.' And they seem like the customers with alot of money and if someone says no, they will just go elsewhere. The value of the life isnt concerned with these customers.

those fish have been dead for over a year now
