This interview just solidified my decision to not watch the show any further. This guy is a donkey. It doesn't matter if he is from New York or anywhere else in the world, all I hear out of his mouth is Hee-Haw. Furthermore, "œmarine science"? In the high school I went to we had marine biology, it was for the flunkies and athletes who couldn't pass real science class.

I always thought marine science and marine biology were two different categories, or am i understanding this wrong?

marine biology is a type of marine science. Marine science includes marine chemistry, oceanography, marine physics ect ect.

Meh, donkey dude had a few decent points, but i got rubbed the wrong way when he was promoting a new product (thats produced by ATM) that will let you use tap water and cycle a tank in a night. Nothing really wrong with it, but seems like he's all about the $$$ and less about the :fish1:

As far as "Your LFS should be the guys telling people how to properly educate people" ect ect ect.

I bet LFS employees are going to get a lot of "Well the people on Tanked put 300 fish in a a 200gal tank and they have been in the hobby for 200 years and have a tv show so you are wrong":hammer::uhoh3:

Me too...Animal Planet lost me when they aired Granny Grizzly, er, Sarah Palin's 'Alaska'...I much prefer Nat Geo & Nat Geo Wild channels...

As far as the comments are going with the whole "marine science and biology classes should be cut..." just remember that if it weren't for those studies we wouldn't have aquariums in our homes in the first place. You should really consider yourself in debt to the marine biologists and ecologists because without them the hobby wouldn't exist.

Thanks for bringing this thread back up. I did not see the video that is at the top of this page till now and he seems like a great guy. It is a shame to see the hobbyists bashing a show that can only be a positive. I agree with him, it is up to the LFS to teach the new customers and to help them out. I am also glad the show is made for entertainment so that we can see all the great tanks instead of boring us with the technical background. That info is in abundance on this site alone and it would be quite boring to the average viewer.
