Tankmate for BSJ

So, my Blue Spot Jawfish is settling in nicely to his new tank (an IM38) and has dug about a dozen different burrows. He's now starting to move to burrows that are in the open sand away from the rocks, so I am thinking he's getting more comfortable.

I am starting to think about tankmates for him, so I can get them started on QT. I certainly don't want many other fish in their, ut I was starting to think about a firefish, possibly a helfrichi's. Since they use bolt holes in the sediment, do you think this would cause big problems for either the BSJ or the firefish?

Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

I kept a BSJ & Helfrichi Firefish together for 18 months until the BSJ passed :( No issues at all between them though. Completely ignored each other.

I have never had them both together but think they would work. Have you thought about a nice goby or blenny to go with the jawfish?

Dartfish in general are excellent tankmates with most jawfish. For some reason this is group of fish that are tolerated in their burrows.

Since BSJ prefer cooler temps other fish that like the same would be a good choice. One such fish that would do well in that size tank are eastern hulafish. They too come from cooler waters, are extraordinarily peaceful, and will.swim in the water column.

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on a pair of exquisite firefish from DD that should be here tomorrow. It took me an awfully long time to find something I thought would work, with a price tag that would also work. FX my BSJ will be up for some company. I also picked up a couple of decent sized rocks with mushrooms on them from DD to add to the tank to make the landscape look different. Hopefully that will help quell any major territory disputes. :)
