do you mind giving us some more insite on your plans.

i see you have OM revolutions hanging down. are there any other things or surprises that you would like to share, or is this going to be a suspenseful build!!

also, those pieces that go between the tanks, i see they are open. is that so you can see through all 3 tanks?
(if so, you better invest in some good razors.)

Looks like it is coming along great. Can't wait to see a full shoot after they get the spacers right.

dahenley, I will have 2 closed loops and yep, there are some OM mixed in with some regular loc line and OM singles. I've been having a hard time with Oceans Motions. They say they are rated up to 7000 gph, but anything that pushes more than a Dart and we have problems with the magnet going 'clunk'. It's happening on 3 of 4 of them. Once we throttle it down, the clunking stops. They don't believe me and I haven't been able to use them.

Yes, the spacers allow you to see all the way through 3 tanks......I have many replacement blades ready to go! :)

Fatrip: After all the back and forth with Cadlights and getting replacement tanks, which I'm still grateful for.....it still isn't quite right. I asked them to build exactly the same outside dimensions as I had originally, because the canopy and stand were made to fit them......and the two cubes I got were 3/8" smaller, so the canopies sit a little large for them. Now, they are not completely square and we have to try it again.

Good news on the middle tank. A.G.E. got back to Fish Planet and said I can try to dremel the hole a little larger. It looks like it's off by 0.03". I can also use a regular schedule 40 bulkhead....I'm not sure I'm quite comfortable to enlarge the hole. The material feels like stone, although I know it's a PVC hybrid(?) and I don't have the finesse to work the dremel.

Alright, so I spent most of the weekend underneath the stand trying to plumb my closed loops and it's driving me nuts.

It's mainly my neck, lower back, and knees. It's going to be a while before there will be pictures so I've padded this with pictures of my helper, my boxer Ronin. He just turned 9 last month! Happy Birthday old man!

i have heard that you can drill a small hole in the OM drum to help relieve some of the pressure and make the drum quit slamming.
(i have no personal experience with OM, but i have read a bunch and surfed the internet more then i should........)

have you talked to OM directly. most people say they are nice people and very informative. also, i am sure if you posted this in the equipment forum, other OM users might be able to help you out as well.
just a thought.

(i like all the gray plumbing. is it all SCH80, or just gray SCH40? )

looks good so far!!!

Yep, it's the owner Paul from Oceans Motions that we've been talking to....it's been phone tag but this issue was raised last year and there was just resistance from him even after we tried all the troubleshooting tips.
I really think we need the stronger magnets, but he won't send them just yet. He wants to 'walk through' the troubleshooting again.

Maybe I will ask around the equipment forum, that's a good thought.

Thanks about the plumbing. It's actually a mix of Sch. 80 and 40. It's weird, some pieces of 40 are way more $$ than if you purchased sch. 80.

Looks like Friday is the day that the new panels go in and Fish Planet comes and enlarges my bulkhead holes....I don't want to do it.:)

Well today was nice. We got some holes drilled, and the panels put in.

Hole was drilled in between the stands and you see how thick it was:

Silicone was applied around the trim to prevent water from dripping in between the tank and stand:

Hole was drilled to feed the fan cables through the top of the canopy. LED mount was also screwed in:

Panels were put in and really finishes the stand/canopy off nicely:

Good idea about sealing around the trim. Never thought to do that before. Will be using that on my next build.

Awe inspiring sugartooth.

I was going to wait till closer to time for me to build my tank before joining RC, but your tank building thread just begged to be subscribed to so I don't miss it

Thanks! That was one of my peeves and concerns about my tanks long term. The solution seemed to be to silicone it. I figured that someone must have done it. :)
