Tansu inspired mixed reef & Haddoni:Clown setup

Dog of Sugar. (like the name!)

and any pictures (even dogs or cabinets or just new boxes that have come in for the tank or misc are good pictures!!!!)

its all a part of the build! (my wife's little dog is next to me no matter what i do to my tank... she is a partner to the addiction)

Well then! Since you mention it, here are some pictures of my other tank. It's a 150 gallon cube anemone clown tank + foxface. At least I get to enjoy something while I wait. :)

Roy, I have 2x 400 watters and 3x 250 DE's waiting. I think by the time the tank is ready, LED's would have become all that we envisioned them to be!

Kathy,

I am finally making the move to MA and have pretty much sold all of my livestock and rocks. All that is left is the tanks and lights and a few other odds and ends (Apex with WDM and VSM, Tunze 6105's (2) and 4 MP10 Vortechs). The big thing that I have left is the lights, which I have posted. I have Aquaillumination Sol's, 6 modules. These have been great for me and my Nems loved them. Only lost one SPS, a Red Planet. All others did great.

I love these lights as they save electricity, have controllers or you can use the Apex to program them. They do cloud roll in and roll out (randomly) along with lightening storms. If you are interested, take a look in the CMAS forum. I have them for sale.

Regards,
Roy

Hi Roy, congratulations on your upcoming move. But I'm sorry to hear you had to break everything down and can't keep your beautiful livestock.

I would be interested to take a look at your lights. When are you moving?

I'll send you a pm to coordinate.

your carpets are so fuzzy!
i have seen a lot and non of them have the extension yours have. (any tips or tricks?)

Haha! Mine are dwarfed compared to the ones posted in the Anemone and Clownfish forum. You should see the beauties there.

They have their own system and I put macro in there for some ground cover. I've got 2 Tunze 6205 and 1 6305 going for an ebb and flow movement. I'm thinking of putting 2 MP40's in place of one of the Tunzes. They make so much noise!

what makes so much noise?
if tunze, do you have the rubber mounted holders? and a 6305 is quiet a pump!!!

i know the Vortechs have a motor outside the tank, so you can hear them more. (a lot of people put them behind the tank pushing forward to muffle some of the motor noise.)

what is ebb? (just curious)

The 6305's are LOUD and so are the 6205's. I can hear it going in the kitchen which connects to the room that they are in. I have mp40's old style and those were loud too at 90-100%. I hoped that they would have improved by now.

I've sent back my 6305's and one or two of the 6205 to Roger for freezing up and being loud. I was sent the rubber feet which helps a bunch.....but it's still loud. I hear the impeller spinning similar to a card against the bicycle spokes.

As for the ebb and flow, it's just how I describe how I have the wave pattern in the tank:

Ebb is the flowing back of the tide, before the push forward. So basically I'm trying to mimic it by having them sequentially kick in (flow) and then stop (ebb), then sequentially kick in again.

do you turn your pumps on and off, or 30% to max?

they say tunze shouldnt be run less then 30% because of cooling and noise and possible reverse rotation.
could that be some of it?

The first pump (6305) is at 70%-100% and is the base flow. It runs all the time, then 60 seconds later the 6205 kicks in at 100%, then 60 seconds later another 6205 kicks in for 60 seconds then they cut off (except 6305).

If I turn them down, then they are not so loud. I was rather disappointed that they made as much noise as they did. It must be something I'm not doing right then if they are supposed to be silent.

Sugartooth,
May i ask you where you get your anemones from?
they look sweet!
(also, do you have any progress on the tank status? or any updated pictures on the new pup)

:sad1:

I absolutely have NO idea what is going on. I haven't heard from Jesse at Elos and no response to my email.

The phone gives an error to his voicemail too. So, I was hoping to get this done by Christmas and it's looking like I'm going to have to use my vacation days early next year to deal with this....if I ever get it.

I suppose I can pass some time and get a picture of my pup. He's gotten so big he's about 75lbs. now and almost 5 months old. He's eating about 7 1/2 lbs. of food a day!

As for my nems, they are sourced from Canada, Diver's Den, and ebay. I got pretty lucky and hope they continue to stay with me for a long time.

So, I guess I'm feeling pretty down because it's been well over a month since I spoke to them about the overflow and was told it should only be a week before they get the replacement for it. I thought I was being pretty patient but I'm getting a bit anxious now.

Right now it's a 400 watter 20K Reeflux with T5 supplementation. It barely covers the middle area and would like to add more light but don't want to increase the electric and heat. I am considering LEDS to add to the 400 w. to see what happens.

what reflector are you using....
i have found that reflectors are just as important as your lights because they offer the penitration and spread from 270 deg of the bulb. the actual bulb only puts 90deg of light down. the rest comes from the reflector.
a different reflector or different height could make a lot of difference. (just a thought)

As cool as LEDs are I would say your 400 watter is doing a great job. They look awesome!

Thanks so much! I hope they live a long life with me. So far it's only been a few years so I haven't passed the 5 year milestone yet. I'm still trying to find the right macro to have in there. I used to have seagrass in there but my foxface keeps eating it all. I also had this beautiful red hard algae but he ate that too!

I completely agree about the reflectors. I am using the Lumenmax Elites because of the low profile. I have lumenarcs that would probably give a little bit better spread but just too big. It's a 3' cube from Marineland, so having 1 in there doesn't quite cover everything.
