tap water filter

I just found out my phosphates are pretty high when my LFS tested my water. I believe they told me 50ppm. Does that sound right? I have a feeling it is my tap water because my 4 year old tank is at that level and also my 2 week old nano tank. One of the reef guys at the LFS recommended this filter since i can not afford to invest in a ro/di filter right now. It is a tap water filter put out by aquarium pharmaceuticals!

Is anyone familiar with this unit?

Linky no worky

But I do know what your talking about, I bought mine at Dr. Foster and Smiths.

There is an RO guru in my local club forum and when I first started I asked him about this unit and was told that for me since I have well water I would be lucky to get my tank filled before the filter went bad.
They really are not that great.

What kind of water do you have?

I know there is an RO/DI seller on E-bay that has cheap but good units. That is something to look into. Also check the sponsors (Purely H2O has some that are cheap, also the filter guys or buckeye field supply).

tap prolly is your problem. The link didnt work, but petsmart usually sells crappy products so i wouldnt pay more than like 15 bucks for something like that...wont do much imo.

Why not just go to walmart or the water store and get RO water? That will at least be better than your tap.

That is it colinadam! Funny I copied and pasted your link to my original and it still doesnt work!
25 g would stink but i could live with 75g to 125g . i went 4years with out one in my FOWLR maybe i will get it for the nanoreef!

sir-dudeguy,I really don't want to be lugging 15g of water from the store every week! maybe i will get some for the biocube . What doed walmart charge?
