Tap Water

Well I was going to use tap water so I called the village office to find out what was in it and they where no help at all. So I did some searching on the internet and found this http://www.ewg.org/tapwater/yourwater/system.php?pwsid=NY4404381
Do you think this is ok to use I dont think so? Do you think I should believe this site?

Bob,
It will be in your best interest and your fish and corals for you to get an RO/DI unit. There are just too many impurities in tap water for it to be considered "reef safe".

I cant believe the stuff ive been drinking not any more.

While a tank will "survive" on most dechlorinated tap waters, they wont thrive and will probably end up a giant algae filled mess. At least thats what mine did. It takes a long time to straighten them out afterwards too.

Tap water has no business in a reef tank.
