well, my first attempt at target feeding was a flop. I was trying to feed my new zoanthids and palys with a syringe. as i depressed the syringe, the zooplanktin just floated to the top of the tank. what am i doing wrong?
You'd be better off cutting the top off of a soda bottle or something similar and placing the bottom over your polyps (a funnel will work well too) when you feed.
I am never able to get zoa's & palys to take spot feedings. Mine grow like crazy with liquid foods added to the tank. The only occasional target feeding I do now is to my frogspawn and elegance coral, but they normally aren't too interested.

I was actually thinking that you'd use the bottom of the bottle to cover the corals, and inject the food into then cover, but I imagine using the top would work fine too--just need to cover it with something.

I have never worried about target feeding zoas. I feed some cyclopeeze to the tank about three nights a week (frozen thawed in some tank water). I put it in a few minutes before "lights out" and the fish eat a bit, and then the lights go off and the coral get the rest. I leave my skimmer and a couple of the powerheads off for about 30 minutes so that some of the cyclopeeze settles on the corals. My zoas are growing nicely.
You can glue a piece of 1/2" PVC pipe into the top half of the 2 liter pop bottle it fits just right and make the pipe long enough to reach the top of the water when feeding that way you don't have to get your hands wet,It is how I feed my tubastrea.
