target feeding xenia

I have recently been target feeding my pulsing xenia DT's phtyoplankton and they are responding very well to this type of food.

Does anyone else target feed their xenia?

if so,what do you feed them?

This is my first time keeping xenia.I've had it for about 2 months.

U will soon notice that Xenia will GROW like crazy. When I first started I was excited and wanted them to grow so I too spot fed them cyclopeeze, and zoomax. They grew out of control so i stopped. now they just feed on what ever is in the water column and they are still growing like crazy.

If u want to excell their growth, DT's will be great. cyclopeeze, oyster eggs, zoomax, chromomax will work well too. I've had great response to coral frenzy as well. Hope this works

I don't think xenia can feed and they are fully light dependent for food.

I thought they ate on a molecular level (phosphate, nitrate....)

Anybody know for sure??

I'm pretty sure as well that they have no mouth to speak of, but will absorb nutrients directly from the water, so raising the nurtrient level by feeding anything will increase growth. Amino Acids, etc will ussually do it the fastest as they do not need to break down first.

It looks like the pulsing xenia has a very small mouth.(thats why I decided to target feed them)Maybe it is just for the intake and outake of water...which would make sense as to how they would primarily feed on nutrients from the water.
