Target mandarin accepting frozen brine...

Ive had a female target mandarin for about 5 months now. My pod population is insane and without a mandarin i fear they would perform a hostile take over on my reef! Lol in all seriousness she is a little fat pudgy sausage. I feed my tank live brine shrimp from my lfs about 1 time a week as a snack for my fish. About a month or so after i had the mandarin, she slowly took interest in the live brine and would eat the occasional one if it swam by. After about two months, when i would feed my weekly brine snack to the fish, she began hunting them sown and eating them almost as voraciously as my tangs. Ive always read about training mandarins to eat frozen foods but never thought of intentionally trying to train mine because of all the pods. As a quick sidenote i got a yellow tang almost a month ago that until just this week was only eating frozen brine, so im daily feeding frozen spirinula enriched brine on top of nls pellets. Fastforward to last night =======>...... I was feeding the tank and aside from the fish i was target feeding my two RBTA , short tentacle plate, and frogspawn so there was an abundance of frozen brine to go around. Once i got done with the target feeding i sat back to watch everyone go to town ans guess what i saw! Yup, my target mandarin ate at least six frozen brine( that i couls see at least)! As i mentioned before i had no intention of trying to get it to eat frozen foods but was beyond thrilled none the less. So i decided i would come here to celebrate and share my story in hopes that maybe by chance it could help someone who is interested in trying to get their mandarin to accept frozen food. Thanks for reading! - greg

Mine is the same way. I started him on Nutramar Ova when he was in quarantine and that got him used to eating whatever came out of the feeding tube. Although he has sufficient pods, he eats whatever frozen foods I give the rest of the fish at least twice a day.
