Tatooing Fish??

I agree. We're having enough problems with the way our fish are caught and our corals are collected, we don't need this kind of press. I'd just like to know what makes a LFS purchase anything like this.

Here's a good read on LPS collecting - little dated (2002) but still good information. There is rumor that Euphyllia species may be banned in June. This is just a rumor as I've not found anything on this but here on RC.

ya i have read alllllll about this. There is like a 90% death rate and the needles they use are the equivalent of using a pencil sized on a human.

Sadly for the same reason the tattooist is, someone willing to buy them. People will purchase these poor animals just like they’ve done with the plethora of dyed fish or invertebrates in years past. Look at the use of cyanide to collect the vast majority of the fish within the marine side of the hobby, people supply because people buy. The hobbyists have the power to stop these practices but more then likely they will not and that is the saddest truth.

I haven't heard anything about a ban. More than likely it will be a limitation of CITES permits after a set date.

I cant even imagine a human self inflicting similar types of tatto's. Oh wait....nevermind...

I agree...the insanity keeps coming....the idiots keep breeding and the lowest common denominator keeps pullling the boundaries of civilization backwards. Hopefully it will go away like a bad haircut.

Where can I get my tribal tatooed grouper at =P j/k
Where is the "tramp stamp" tatoo on a fish located at?

Im not surprised .....people have putting dye in fish and coral for years......sad.
