Ok, I wish I could give you guys a good picture of this fish, but even in the bags, both were pretty quick. They must be native to the Gulf of Mexico and both are obviously the same kind, just one bigger than the other.

In the body type, they look a lot like a goby, long and thin with leopard spots and strips similar to a watchman goby, but less distinct. However, their heads are small and their mouths small and somewhat pointed. Their rear fins are very small and they don't have any bright markings.

They seem to be very timid and like hiding out in holes in rocks or darting in and out of caves. They blend in really well with the rocks as well. (As you would expect since they came from the same habitat.)

Any ideas? I'm just curious! In the meantime, I'll try to get them to stay still and in the open long enough for a photo op.

dragonette? from your discription thats my guess. They are reclusive but not sure about the hiding in and out of holes. small body/mouth fits. but you didn't mention any big fins.
