One thing it has helped me with is accepting the circle of life. It is hilarious how we will spend $$ on live food for some fish or coral, but to throw a handful of snails in to replenish a CUC that a mantis whittled down seems like an pita. There are people who target feed their corals every day and yet you can do the same for a mantis and he will leave everything alone. It does hurt, when a crab eats your prized zoa, but that is part of a reef. They do it all the time. It has really made me want to do a large biotype tank with several of each macrospecies rather than a whole bunch of different stuff. That way I can let life happen with fewer expensive casualties and a lot more interesting interaction.
Dream-240 gal cube. Gorg forest backdrop tapering down the rock to some zoa mat and sandbed. Crabs, macroalgae, mantis, nems etc.
