TBS Package in a Refugium ???

I am currently building a new sump for my established tank that will contain a 20 gallon refugium. Because of the variety of life, I am interested in purchasing a 15 gallon "package" for it.

Now if I do this, I understand that there will be some dieoff and will not hook up the new sump to the main tank until this is completed.

My question is: Is there anyway for any bad hitchhikers to spawn and make their way to my main tank ???

As it is in the sump, any mantis shrimp or gorilla crabs probably wont make the trip up the return pump. -)

But if they spawned ?? .

There's always a chance. But If you do a turkey baster blaster with soda water to the rocks or a high Slaine dip you should get rid of most of the bad crabs. But other than that you should be fine.
