TBS rock - how much?

Happy Sunday y'all! I'm getting excited now as my Reefer 525 should be here sometime this week....the waiting game is killing me.

I have a question on TBS rock. I'm planning to order "the package" and I'm looking for some guidance on how much LR to order. I'm not a fan of having a huge wall of rock, but I'm also not a minimalist either. I'm stuck somewhere in the middle...

The DT is 108 gal and the sump is 31 gal. DT dimensions are 59"x22"x22.6". Any help, and pictures of tanks with TBS LR, is much appreciated.

Having purchased "the package" twice, I would say going with one that's about half the tank volume to start would probably be a good idea. Maybe the 60g version. If you want more later you can always pick up another batch down the road.

Since your only about an hour away from TBS have you considered picking out the rock yourself?

I did that years ago and it was well worth the drive, it is a little bit more than an hour but you know our local traffic. I used about half as much base rock and was still very happy with the results. I used to live in Panther Ridge, Its a small world!

Here's a visual representation of 60lbs of rock (2.1 walt smith) in a 48x24x16 when I first received it, it should give you an idea of what you want. I personally think 120lbs would be too much in your DT, but you could put some in your sump if you also end up feeling the same way.

Nice looking tank Josh! Thanks for sharing the photos. That is exactly the type of look I'm going for. The Walt Smith 2.1 looks great and I'm started to get pumped up looking forward to tank arrival!

I also have used TBS and ordered the package and would recommend 1/2 your DT. So a 55 or 60 "The Package"
