tds is 20?

If it was a refurb it should have new cartridges.
20 is what should be coming from the RO only, are you checking that, or the DI?

Before anything the tds was 200, I just did it the final version out of the blue which was 20-22. I am not sure what it is in the middle.

Well your di deff needs changed but without knowing the tds before the di i can say if the membrane is good or not. You should be getting less than 5ppm after the membrane though

I'd contact spectrapure, it could be a a few things.
If your DI resin is color changing it should be obvious if it needs changing, but I doubt they would send a refurb in need of DI.

Yeah, I'd reach out to spectrapure. They might have cracked a housing when they put it all back together or something. It's should be good to go out of the box. Mine was.

ohh sorry guys, I have had this for over a year. I was just wondering what I need to replace, it was good out of the box. Sorry I should of said that in the beginning.

Yeah, that would make a difference.
Sometimes you can gain a little more life by doing a lengthy backflush, but I'd be contacting spectrapure and order new filters based on their recommendation.

There should be a pitcock that allows you to do that, check any instructions that came w/ it or again, contact spectrapure

Sorry for stating the obvious (that was strongly implied in the above responses), but YES, effluent of 20 TDS from your RO/DI unit is not a good thing. IMO, it is a pretty bad thing. I would follow up on excellent advice proffered above and fix the problem ASAP.

Good luck,

Captain Obvious a/k/a Mike
