TDS Meter Question

I finally got a TDS meter (T3, but no Schwarzanegger).
From what I can tell, it is already calibrated. My tap water comes out to about 650ppm, while my RO/DI water is 48ppm. My question is this: should by RODI water be 0? Or is this acceptable?

Thanks in advance.

RODI should be 0.

Sounds like either you need to replace your RODI cartridges and/or ensure your TDS meter is calibrated correctly. When was the last time you changed them?

I don't have one, otherwise I'd offer to let you borrow it to ensure it had the same readings on your water.

It should come calibrated. With your tap water at 650 you should see around a 95%-98% reduction in tds after the RO membrane, depending on water pressure and temperature. It should be around 15-30 with your incoming water having such a high tds. After teh DI cartridge it shoudl be 0 tds.

48 is very high and will cause problems with algae, etc.
