TDS Meter

Just went in for joint custody on a TDS meter with Hobyfish and tested my RODI, It was 0, I was happy. My tap was 114, that seems low to me for tap water, is it? Does anyone know what straight RO usually tests at? I think i am going to go to get some of the water at the supermarket and test it too just for giggles.

Water in this region is actually lower in tds than many areas in the US and 114 isn't surprising.

RO water with good membranes will test anywahere from 2-5, and after DI should be 0.

+1 some cities just have been water than others. There are even some places that have almost perfect water, and others that is just plain nasty.

114 - 116 is what it tests at over here on Riverrock. I was surprised when i saw that too. I thought my tap water would be higher than that.

Our water on the southwest side of town sucks. I have about 250+ TDS going in. Your output on your RO should be around 10% of whats going in, I think. It may be 5%... I can't remember right off of the top of my head.

Brandon, 250 is not horrible, even if it is significantly higher than others around you. Some major cities (I believe NYC is one) has TDS in the 750-1000ppm range.

My TDS may not be horrible, but the amount of chemicals they put into the water is! :D Honestly, we can go away for a weekend and come back and when I flush the toilet, it will smell like a pool!

My tap water test at 48, I got a bottle of nestle water and tried it, it was at 58. I have a built in tds meter on my rodi, it quit working, it was reading 0. Handheld was reading 17 nice algae outbreak.
