TDS meters: Handheld/inline?

I'm thining I need to get a TDS meter. Just curious on which type everybody is using and how well you like it?

I use a handheld meter just because they are cheap, easy to calibrate, and I can easily test effluent/waste/tap water. Also easier if someone needs to borrow it.

From what Ive read the inline meters tend to be less accurate because of buildup on the electrodes, and some I think can't even be calibrated.

We have a dual inline, which is great, especially up here where the water is so hard, it measures the water coming in, and going out...nice to see that all the money spend on an rodi actually takes the water from 130 ppm to 0 ppm....we got ours from Serdar and it was about the same price as a handheld.And since we mounted it, we can't lose it.

I'm thinking a handheld is the way to go. Like stated before, it can be borrowed.

Maybe somebody in the Mansfield area has one? I'd hate to buy one if so. Maybe a few of us could chip in on one? Just a thought. Seems silly to spend a decent amount of money on something that would only gets used once a month.

I bought a case of meters and was selling them for $25 each. They are usually sold for around $30-$35. Not too expensive compared to the headaches that you would end up with when your RO membrane is bad and you start getting all the algae. I only test the TDS every month or two on my RO unit.

Here's one at Marine Depot for $30
