I have a issue .i have ro/di unit a 5 stage bye aqua fx the unit is reading 81 coming in & 0 going out .I use just fill 5 gallon bucket & put heater in to get to tempeture. I have recently hooked up a tunze osmolator it works great. Ok the problem is i ran the output to a 15 gallon rubbermaid with the heater in & the pump for the osmolator. My readings from the ro is still 0 but the reading in the bucket is 113 thats higher than the input to the ro. What could be causing this . I just starting to see my water quality decline coralline is gettin covered bye green film & brown. I am not sure if the bucket can cause this issue.I have great readings as far as parameters. Im confused please help.

Are these the buckets you mix your salt water in? If so you are probably reading the little bit of salt remaining in the buckets after dumping into your tank.

No i am using a small 15 gal rubbermaid container which is brand new.I use 44 gal to do water changes .I do water changes every 2 weeks 40 gals at a time .I do see maybe 4 in those buckets before i mix salt. I figured that was from residue.

Air will not help it, just attach more ions to it, give Jim at the filterguys a call tomorrow he will explain it easier then I, I had the same thing, he explained all in two minutes, they are on our sponsor site, but if it was 0 coming out it is basicaly a false reading, he will explain it.

If its a new container, did you rinse it out well before using it? Plastics have oil films which are mold release agents so they come out of the plastic molds better. Always rinse it out well. I do a vinegar bath and a bleach bath both before using new plastic. I just hooked up this Rubbermaid to my RO/DI and am getting a reading of 2 out of it and its still open top until I get it finished.

Thats not a big deal but your readings are pretty high. How are you testing and what are you testing with?

I am using a aqua fx tds monitor one on my ro unit and a hand held unit to test my water for water changes & top off etc .I think i know the problem ,after talking to the filter guys they said to switch to a food grade container or a small glass aquarium. I just got back with a new glass unit a 20 gal. I did clean the container i used with bleach & vinegar before i used it . The problem was probally the container they said ro/di water is positively charge ions can draw stuff out of the air & container . Container is gone & my ionic breeze is in the fish room to keep air clean. Thanks for help .
