TDS readings

I know you want readings at 0 but how high is too high.

I changed my 3 canisters and backwashed everything. Let it run for 15 minutes and my readings are still at 65. My membrane is less than 3 months old. Water is probably 500 or higher going in.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

The device your using is probably not working properly...
Those nbrs are way off...Have you calibrated it lately....
What are you using to measure your TDS....

Also, what are you putting the water in, that you are testing? It must be clean, and rinsed with the water before testing. If the container is dirty, you will get a false reading as well. To me..3 is too high.

Are you running the water through anything after the RO membrane? You should only have the DI after the RO. You don't need any carbon filter after the ro and/or di. That final carbon filter is for drinking water. I'd stash it in the shed somewhere...

You need three measurements.
Tap water (mine is around 180)
after the RO (mine starts about 6 and drops the longer it runs)
after the DI (should always read zero... period)

If you are getting TDS of 60 after your RO, either something is hooked up wrong or is not working properly (maybe your filter, maybe your tds meter)...

Is that city water at 500? I've never heard of other central florida city water being that high. Maybe you should bring your meter into an lfs and compare some readings with their meter...

The TDS meter is new and supposedly came precalibrated. It is an inline meter so it tests it immediately after it leaves the RO unit. I thing my readings are so high because I have it hooked up to the outside faucet which if it is on my irrigation water main is reclaimed water.

What do you use for water that you calibrate with?
