Teal Candy Cane looks like it's "melting"

Got this frag from a local reefer. It's been "drooping" a bit ever since I got it with a couple tears in the flesh that seem to heal and re-open. No brown slime, it's little "feelers" come out periodically to grab stuff out of the column, etc.

Any thoughts?

*Edit: ignore the sick sun coral behind it, I got that from the same local reefer after they got fed up with not being able to feed it. I'm not having any better luck but I was trying to coax it out with some mysis juice. (hence the bottle over the coral)

I'm not sure about the trumpet but try krill with the sun coral. I make krill tartar lol. I cut the krill up until it's almost a paste. Then I squeeze some over the sun coral. If you see any feeder tentacles come out even if its half of one, feed it again. It looks very weak and bleached.

It is weak/bleached. I've had success feeding mysis once. I got 3 or 4 polyps to take shrimp, the rest stay in hidiing, only coming out enough to 'see' what the fuss is.

Even if they poke out a tiny bit, still gently squirt food onto them. They can still take in tiny particles. Another option is to take them and put them in a 5 gallon bucket with tank water. Then add a few cubes of stinky food such as mysis and brine shrimp and let the food float over the top of them. I heard this works in even the most severe cases of starvation.

I did a broadcast feeding of ReefChili last night. Not sure if it got any.. I use the top of a 2 liter bottle to keep food I feed it (mysis/etc) on/around them rather than having the fish pick at it.

But this thread is really more about my candy cane and it's droopy-ness.

It is not real common but they can multiply this way. The tissue falls off and if conditions are good it starts rebuilding it skeleton.
I have actually seen a thread on this site about this.

Interesting. It's just this one polyp/head. The rest look normal.

+1 Saw this in my own tank a while back... it will be fine. Weird as heck so enjoy it and take pictures ;)

Looks like you have the exact same ones as me and I got a crap load. Still my have never done this.

It will be interesting to se what happens.

Do they glow under just actinics?
