My water is really cloudy, im doing a water change to see if that fixes it, and my salinity is a little on the high side, about 1.028. I plan on fixing that too.

first off, i would like to say, this thread has been going on for 1 month now, YAY! thank you to all that have subbed and followed my journey!

as a 1 month surprise (not really, i just noticed its been 1 month) i got a fish!

All welcome Medusa:

She likes to yawn, its quite cute (i think she is actualy trying to tell me to F*** off)

Well, with me being who i am, i knew i was going to forget something. I forgot that they jumped and i have a rimmless tank.... my solution:

A sheet of acrylic over the tank

My mom is out right now buying stuff for a top, 1/4in mesh and some sort of border (whatever she can fine at ace).

She already jump out which almost made me pee my pants.

She was eating at the store and they have had her for a month which is a great reasurance that she is healthy. All fish from now on are going into the quarantine (if i get any more). They had a really nice tomato clown that i might get along with the anemone that its hosting (ugly brown LTA :headwallblue: the only anemone that im not in love with).

I also picked up a kenya tree because in my old tank they were the best at sensing water and salinity changes. Really helped me on my water changes.

I just looked back and she is bobbing her head up and down and playing in the current. SO ADORABLE!

PEACE OUT!

AGHAGHAGH she is too beautiful! i know where im going to be sitting for the next 5hrs+.... She already ate 1 mysis shrimp even though i know im not supposed to feed her >.> I also built the top using window screen mesh and these plastic corner pieces that were clear. total: $6.39 6 for the 2 pieces of plastic, .39 for the mesh! im such a saver. Pics next time someone tells me that they are interested in them.

I'm interested in them! I had the same problem when my wrasse jumped so I used egg crate and I'm not sure if I like it or not...

More of medusa!

She went crazy on the front of the tank, swimming back and forth, so i thought it was a good time for pics.

well... ****..... she has jumped out twice while ive had her. I put books on top of the top and will build a wood one tomorrow. Hopefully i can make it so the light sits on top of the hood and i can hide everything in there. Oh well, i think she will be fine, she isnt moving as much as before but she still seems happy. Im worried she will jump overnight, hopefully she cant push textbooks.

Tank looks like it's coming along very well. :)

I do have a concern - I'm not sure what kind of fish you plan on stocking this tank with, but I'd be cautious of putting anything small in this tank with an eel. Especially fish that hide/sleep at night within the rock crevices where the eel is.

yeah i know, thanks though! i will probably add a large tomato clown (3in) or some type of large wrasse.

Be careful with the wrasse selection - there's a few that sleep within the rocks when the lights go out - I can't remember which species of wrasse, because it's been a while since I was active in reef keeping - though I'd like to get back in one day.

Most wrasses sleep in the rock at night. Leopards and a few others will bury themselves at night.

Thank's - I thought most did, but I've been away for 1.5 years, so I didn't want to make that assumption, as I re-familiarize myself with the hobby again.

How about an adult toby/dwarf puffer of some variety? Or an adult dwarf angel fish?

Pretty sure both are open swimmers at night.

Even a Toby would be tough because of size. Most are labeled as 50 for a minimum because of the size and how much they swim. An angel, on the other hand would be a better choice as they are labeled for 30. The down side is that both are coral pickers. My Toby tore nems apart when I tried to add them. I don't know if an angel would do the same...

You might be right.. I know those fish are "recommended" for 50g, but so is the snowflake the OP has in his 25 right now. In particular, there are the Valentini and Leopard puffer both "recommended" in 30g tanks. I'm sure there are a few more 'dwarf' type puffers out there.

Now I'm not sure how smart it would be, with a eel in a 25g "mixed" reef tank. At some point, I'd be very cautious sticking my hand in the tank, when adding corals, fixing corals that fell over, etc. etc.

I might not add any more fish and just pack it full of corals. The owner of the fish store that i bought him at had had him with one of his corals tank and he said the only time the eel knocked anything over was when it was feeding time or she was frightened. If i do end up adding another fish it will be the tomato clown unless you guys recomend something really interesting. i dont really like puffers in general. Nor do i like really any predatory fish other then snowflake and moray eels.
