i think im going to let the tank take its course. Im going to stay away from any fish that jump. I still think i want sand, so i may go with some sort of burrying goby and some others. I dont know..... we will see.
I'd be careful with some of the burring gobies if you haven't already got one. I had a yellow watchman that kept getting in my overflow and getting down into the sump. It was a strange fish. I think it would've probably jumped if I didn't have a top.

Great video! I like the lay out of your tank. I cant wait to see it once the algea gets cleaned up. I have a duel chamber reactor from brs I have been using it on my 100 with gfo and carbon. The only thing that I didnt like about it was that the filter pads get clogged really fast and it is a pain to clean. Looks good keep posting pics!

Definitely time to look into a GFO reactor bud, it'll help you out tons! I wish I would have run one from day1 as it's now leached into my rock and causing ongoing trouble, though it's an uphill battle.

Start by pulling all that GHA off manually with your fingers or tweezers, and get the phosphates under control.

Nothing but constructive criticism here, it will pay off in the long run! :)

thats odd. I dont think that one would be able to fit through my overflow as it has very small holes.

oh god, long time no see. I just read through my own post and ive gotta say, its pretty depressing, 2 fish, no corals, and my anemone died. Well i say, that must change. Last week i was in Florida at my grandmas. It was lots of fun, the best was snorkeling. I dont know how many of you have been, but it is a must do. It was even better because i could name everything around me. Most fun experience in my life by far, and ive pet a killer whale in Canada. Snorkeling beat that by far! I also went to a fish store, and wished i could buy stuff, but shipping was $109  To much. So im back now, and what have i got? Lets see!

You wont believe how hard it is to photograph crazy shrimp until you have tried. I have 2 camel shrimp, only about 1in long, maybe. 2 skunk clowns, still going strong, but i think they are paranoid of movement because they wont leave their corner. 1 blenny, i need a name for him/her but its a beauty! and my final fish is a randals goby. This bugger has found a spot to stay in probably the most akward location. The only way to see him is to look from the top or sit very still until he pokes his head out. Oh well, he is adorable and only about 3/4in.

I dont feel like writing a paragraph for corals so here they are

1 Silver xenia- about 5in tall and 3in wide with 3 main branches (HUGE)
1 brown xenia- even though its probably the plainest, by far my favorite
1 assorted mushroom rock- green, purple, orange, red, you name it!
1 tiny toadstool- My favorite species of coral, i have no clue why
2 random large mushrooms- 1 brown about 4in diameter, 1 clear/pink 3in diameter
1 kenya tree- my dad insisted so w/e
1 black brittle star fish- i consider him a coral because he sticks his tentacles out and acts like one

SHHHH, dont tell but i also got a hitch-hiker red leg hermit (wewt!)

The algae is almost gone and my GFO reactor has been installed for like 10 days. It is probably dead, just very hard to pull off the rocks.

More pics when i can get good ones :lolspin:

Hope you guys enjoi!

Hey I lost track of your progress since this. Glad things for the most part are going good! I got the same tank, and am really pleased with it. Still dry though. Just got the stand built this past weekend, will be setup in a few months.

Regarding your algae outbreak/phosphate issue. I'm glad the GFO reactor seems to be clearing this up. I stumbled across one of your vids on YouTube from way back when you first set it up, and were running freshwater through your system containing the rock. The low pH of RO/DI water, as you seemed to be aware of, has a subtle acidic effect 'melting' the calcium rock away. This process can release bound up phosphates that would not be released if it was in saltwater from day one. I suspect this may have contributed to an outbreak of phosphate into your system water. Now that your running saltwater, the acidic effect is gone and no more phosphate is being released. So the GFO if nothing else will scrub it out. Going by this theory hopefully it's a one time thing from when you first ran freshwater with your rock.

I really like the setup, nice work
