Tek fixture leg installation?

Well I just picked up the Tek t5-ho fixture earlier today and am having a hard time making the legs fit? I have a 48" tank so I ordered a 48" Tek fixture but with the legs on and adjusted as close as possilbe to the tank I still have about 1 1/2" of space on one side? So the fixture basically falls off everytime I try and put it on....?? The box didn't really come with any instructions about this. If anyone has experience with the tek fixture and feet please let me know. Thanks

I had the same problem with mine. What i did was got some stiff foam and cut them in strips and glued them on the insides of the legs. This way if the light unit slides either way the foam hits the edge of the tank and stops the lights from falling off. But i was pretty ****ed when i got the legs considering how much i paid for them.

then the legs would be sticking in the tank. that doesn't seem good for the inhabitants or the legs.

The overhang of the legs should be on the inside of the lip of the tank.

Ohhhh... Thank you very much. I was kinda freaking out for a while.

why don't you want to hang the unit? just asking because i think i'm going to go for the 8x54

some people cant drill into the ceiling or dont want to

It does fit now... But it just looks like its not made to go that way. Has anyone else had this problem and had to flip em? Here are some pictures.

Also does anyone know if I should have received 6 big screws, 3 for each leg? I only revceived 4 and on each side theres a black spot. Just making sure I got all the parts.

Thanks again for all the help.

I just got the same things. If you take the lower section of the leg off by removing the 4 thumbscrews and revers it it should fit much better. I'm at work now, but I can take pics of how I did mine later tonight. Mine also only came with 4 screws, not the 6 that it looks like it should take.

Ding2daDong,

Thanks for posting pictures, I really wanted the legs because working inside the tank is as easy as lift and placing it on the floor, with standard cables you can't adjust them.
Now plan "B"

http://www.cablegrippers.com/

They provide instant toolless height adjustment unlike the TEK cables.

I google and called several companies but they only sale to trade and in bulk.

Just spoke with this company they sell to the public.

They have a demo. Now after seeing the demo i want them.

Maybe reefgeek or the like sale them.

Well I switched them around and that basically solved the problem. Here are some pictures. Thanks again everyone.

Thats how mine are.

Well, at least I am not the only one who thought the instructions that came with the legs made no sense.

I ended up having to do exactly what you did at the end. Otherwise, it just didn't fit properly.
