Tek Light - Reefgeek Feedback

I plan on purchasing a 36" Tek Light from Reefgeek but have never dealt with them. There is a deal where they sell the fixture with the bulbs for an extra $80.

Has anyone dealt with reefgeek before and what kind of bulbs will it come with?

If not will Marindepot be a better place to purchase the fixture from?

ReefGeek is as good as it gets, especially for T5s. They have a forum here, but Greg (ReefGeek) doesn't post there much. Give him a call and he will hook you up.

I ordered my stuff for my retrofit kit from ReefGeek. They are awesome

They don't list the bulbs, because they let you choose which ones you want when you place your order. :)

When you decide to purchase the fixture, you will have your choice of any of the bulbs. Reefgeek carries the best quality bulbs available.

I've purchased a great many things from ReefGeek, including a TEK fixture, an ATI powermodule fixture and my aquacontroller III. I've never had a problem with anything being delivered damaged, and Greg has always been available to answer any questions I have had. I feel very confident continuing to order from them.

Reefgeek is top notch. I just got a 6x54 Tek from there. Highly recommended. you can't go wrong with these guys.

Not sure what combo your looking at, but just to let you know... when I ordered 2 weeks ago, they had the ATI ProColors and Blue + on backorder. They might be in stock by now.

I bought all my lighting stuff from reefgeek, they're great.

bulbs and color are personal preference for the most part, but there are some PAR output considerations. I think there is a comparison thread in the equipment forum from Grim Reefer, anybody have a link handy?

Reefgeek is one of the best out there IME. I ordered a Tek fixture myself (couldn't find enough loose change in my couch for the ATI :D ) not too long ago. You get to pick any of the bulbs they have in stock. The price w/ bulbs was the best I could find. The packaging was great...no damage was done, despite my UPS guy's best efforts.

You can't beat reefgeek when it comes to service, & price.

FWIW, for bulbs I went with...

Front
Giesemann Actinic +
UV AquaSun
Giesemann Actinic +
UV Super Actinic

Thanks for all the info; the input and links are great.

I've decided on the following combinations:

First combination: (I'm thinking this is more equal white/blue combo)
1)UVL Super Actinic
2)ATI Blue Plus
3)UVL Aqua Sun
4)ATI Aqua Blue Special
5)UVL SUper Actinic
6)ATI Blue Plus

Second Combination: (this is more of a blue combo)
1)ATI Blue Plus
2)ATI Blue Special
3)ATI Blue Plus (or swap with UVL Super Actinic)
4)ATI ProColor (purple tube) (or swap with UVL Aqua Sun)
5)ATI blue Special
6)ATI Blue Plus

Since the fixture only has two switches the first and last bulb is on the same bulb and I want to have this a blue combination. The remaining 4 bulbs (2-5) I want a good balance between blue and white light so the tank with all the lights on will not be too blue; or too white.

Suggestions are welcomed.

What kind of bulbs (ATI vs UVL) should I consider purchasing? & in what kind of combination?
ATI for color (Blue Plus & Aquablue)

UV Lighting for growth, as they put out the highest PAR (75/25 & AquaSun)

Here's what I would do:

- - - FRONT - - -
ATI Blue Plus
UV Lighting 75/25
UV Lighting Aquasun
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus
- - - BACK - - -

Here's what I currently run:

- - - FRONT - - -
Geisemann Actinic Plus
UV Lighting 75/25
UV Lighting Aquasun
Geisemann Actinic Plus
Geisemann Aquablue Plus
UV Lighting Super Actinic
- - - BACK - - -

I just had the Geiseman bulbs on hand ahead of time... when I reorder I will be switching to the first combo I listed.

I have never bought from reef geeks, but I have bought a number of differnet Tek fixtures. PM me and I will give you a link to a source whos prices cant be beat.

I absolutely agree with everyone else. If Reefgeek has it, that's where I buy it 99% of the time. If you find it someplace cheaper, let them know, and they'll match the price.
